Take a trip along Australia’s greatest river to discover a slower pace and great wines
The Murray River flows from a tiny spring in Kosciuszko National Park and travels more than 2,500 km before it enters the Southern Ocean in South Australia.
Along the way, the stream turns into a mighty river, forming a rich agricultural region. The Murray/Darling and Perricoota wine regions are based around the river, producing shiraz, merlot, chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon grape varieties.
There are boutique cellars as well as long-established producers with delicious wines to sample. Tasting the produce of the Murray “food bowl” at one of the region’s fine restaurants or food and wine events is a bonus of travelling here.
