Fresh produce markets around NSW

Fast facts

  • There are regular farmers’ markets held around New South Wales each month, five of them in Sydney alone.
  • Most markets meet on the first or last Saturday of the month, while others open fortnightly or weekly.

Why go there

With the very best produce, not to mention snacks, farmers’ markets in Sydney and around the regions of New South Wales offer opportunities to buy food at its freshest and make a connection with the people who grew it. It’s also a great day of eating and fun for the family.

Taste dairy fresh from the cow, marvel at the exotic likes of fresh grown ginger-flower or finger lime, be dazzled by purple potatoes, heritage tomatoes, fresh cloud-ear fungus, perfect pheasant and duck sausage. All this while drinking fresh-squeezed organic juice, locally grown coffee and snacking on everything from wagyu steak sandwiches to rare-breed bacon-and-egg rolls.

Things to do

Challenge yourself and go to the markets with no shopping list or plan and make dinner based on what you find on the day.

Challenge your friends to a farmers’ market dinner party, with each guest or couple bringing a dish they’ve made from their market meanderings.
